About Tank Brawl

Tank Brawl is an io-style tank shooter. You roll into a large arena scattered with floating crystals and computer-controlled rival tanks. Shoot crystals to earn XP, level up, and spend upgrade points to turn your little tank into a fortress, a speedster or a sniper.

At level 10 you pick a new turret, and the fights get serious: knock out rival tanks for a big share of their XP before they do the same to you. It is single-player and runs in your browser on desktop and mobile.

Tank Brawl rules

Crystals and XP

Crystals drift slowly around the arena. Small blue shards give 10 XP, amber prisms 25 XP, and big purple cores 120 XP but take many more hits. A broken crystal is soon replaced somewhere else. Ramming a crystal also wears it down, and scratches your tank a little.

Your score is your XP. Levels come faster at first and slower later, up to level 30. Higher levels mean a slightly bigger, tougher and slower tank.

Upgrades

Every level brings one upgrade point. Spend it on Armor (more health), Repair (faster healing), Engine (speed), Reload (fire rate), Caliber (shell damage) or Velocity (shell speed and range). Each stat goes up to 7, and you will not have enough points for everything, so choose a style.

At level 10 you swap the cannon for one of three turrets: Gatling (sprays fast, light shells.), Longshot (slow to reload, hits hard from far away, and sees further.) or Triple (three barrels fire a fan of shells.).

Fighting

Shells damage the first tank or crystal they hit, and your own shells never hurt you. Tanks that touch push each other apart and both take damage.

Knocking out a tank earns you 40% of its XP plus 25. Tanks repair slowly all the time, and much faster after 5 seconds without being hit. A new tank is shielded for 2.5 seconds.

Rivals

Every other tank is controlled by the computer and marked AI on the arena leaderboard. Chill has 6 rivals that mostly farm crystals and aim loosely. Normal has 9 that fight when they are winning and back off when hurt. Fierce has 12 that lead their shots and press every fight.

Rivals join at different levels, so some are already strong. A rival that is knocked out is replaced a few seconds later.

Best score

Your result is the XP you reached in the round. The best result for each rival level is saved in this browser.

Tips and strategy

  • Early on, farm small crystals near the edge of the action and put points into Reload and Caliber.
  • Back away while you shoot. Most fights are won by the tank that keeps its distance.
  • Leave fights before your health bar turns red; repairs speed up once you stop getting hit.
  • Lead your shots: aim where a moving tank is going, not where it is.
  • Longshot sees further than the other turrets. Use the view to pick fights you can win.

Frequently asked questions

Is Tank Brawl multiplayer?

Is Tank Brawl free?

Yes. It is free to play in your browser with no account, download or payment.

How do I upgrade my tank?

When you level up, upgrade buttons appear at the bottom of the arena. Press 1 to 6 or tap a stat. At level 10 you pick a turret first, with 1, 2 or 3.

Can I play on a phone or tablet?

Yes. Drag on the left half of the arena to drive and on the right half to aim and fire. The game pauses automatically if you switch apps or tabs.
